Episode 56 – Listen below
You can also listen on iTunes, the podcast app, or search your favourite podcatcher, if you prefer!
Join myself and my house guest, Felix Ford, as we eat breakfast and chat about our Edinburgh Yarn Festival weekend.
This is a very laidback episode and one of the rare episodes where there are no shownotes. This episode is deliberately unpolished and largely unedited, so please forgive the coffee percolating, the toast being buttered, the little hush of the radio in the other room, and the general background noise – we just wanted to capture our memories for the podcast, so set up the mic and started chatting. We also go through my EYF special haul! (more on this soon!)
It was incredible to meet those of you who were at the EYF and to say hello and spend the incredible woolly weekend with you. I know we all jumped in the photobooth a few times, but do tag #podcastlounge in any of your own images of EYF on social media so I can see your own memories of the festival!
Many thanks also to all the podcasters who attended and the lovely Sonja and Netty, from Blacker Yarns and – of course – to Jo and Mica for an incredible festival – You guys are the most incredible people!
I should be back around the 8th April with the regular programme.

What a lovely listen….I think this was one of my favoure podcasts you’ve done so far (though they’ve all been smashing)…sometimes when I’m out and about and stop for a coffee I get to eavesdrop on people meeting up, having a chat, a bit of a gossip, showing off shopping and this is what you and Felix sounded like here…loved hearing you both whispering and listening to the sound of your wool purchase….I think you’d have to be proper stony-hearted not to listen to this with out getting a bit teary eyed with happiness.
I have just listened to Episode 56 and thoroughly enjoyed ‘evesdropping’ on your breakfast chat with Felix. I could almost feel that I was there with you both and it was the next best thing to having been at EYF. It has made me even more determined to be there next year if only for one day. A long weekend in Edinburgh, which I have never yet visited despite wanting to could be going on the 2017 calendar. Thanks Louise and Felix for a lovely podcast episode. ????
Excellent episode! It took me back to the marketplace and the Podcast Lounge. I bought a pair of dorset button earrings from TJFrog and I love them! I like the sound of KnitBritish on the road – how exciting
Great episode! You make a wonderful podcast pair (no surprise there.) I think you managed to capture the general mood of the festival, and interests of today’s knitter, very well.
Hi Louise:
I have listened to every episode from the very first one and am a big fan. I frequently note parts of episodes that I want to hear again. This episode is the best ever! I listened to it two times in a row. I wasn’t able to be at EYF (as it is a tad far from San Francisco) and this podcast is the most evocative of my imagining of the event. It is on my bucket list along with Shetland Wool Week and Meg Swanson’s knitting camp. All these lovelies will have to wait until I finish tending to my 11 year old Boxer. He still comes first.
Hope to see you in Scotland at a knitting event one of these days.
Sue
What a lovely summing up of EYF from the two of you. And thank you Louise for all your hard work at the Podcast lounge – I wish I could have spent more time there, but I really enjoyed the breed swatching session on Friday morning. And oh, that blanket was so, so beautiful; I can’t think of a person more worthy to treasure and take care of it.
So glad you were able to pick up a skein of the John Arbon Devon Grey Wensleydale – I got some too, and it’s gorgeous. We need Kate’s book out now!
i just loved listening to you two this morning… I am so far away from EYF being in Western Australia but now I feel as though I have been enjoying the fun too. Great podcast and thank you so much for taking all the care you do in each episode and also to Felix it was lovely to hear all her chat and observations too…. From Over Here to Over There..
[…] a picture of me on Knitsonik’s as well. In fact Felix and Louise (Knit British) recorded a really wonderful post-Edinburgh podcast over breakfast – just the two of them drinking coffee, eating toast and chatting away and if […]
Really nice listening to you. I am wondering if you could write down names of yarns and stands that you mention? I am not English native and would really like to check up some of the yarns and people that you mention, but have a hard time catching the names.
hello! no, I am afraid – as I say in the post – there are no shownotes or links as it would be a very very long list and the episode was intended to be laid back and a little bit less work than usual due to my fatigue. I usually always provide very accurate notes, but this takes time.
You could go to my next post to read further details and links of my own stash buys https://woolwork.net/eyf2016/
and you can view all the vendors at http://www.edinyarnfest.com
One idea is to take a look at the Vendor list, as you might be able to roughly match them up to what Louise is saying in her adorable Shetland accent 😉

From memory, Louise certainly mentioned Anna Maltz (who shared a stand with Rachel Atkinson, Daughter of a Shepherd), Blacker Yarns, Kate Davies, John Arbon, Triskelion, Wollmeise and Ysolda. These are all linked on the vendors list above!
Hope this helps 🙂
